Medieval Spur

Medieval spur dating between the 14th and 15th century AD. The earliest known spurs were crafted from bone or wood but by Roman times spurs had evolved to be made of iron with a single point known as a prick spur. Although it wasn't until the Anglo-Saxon era that spurs recieved their name form the saxon word ''spura'' or ''spora''. which means "a spike or point." This word is derived from the Proto-Germanic term ''spuron'' also meaning "to kick" or "to spur."
