Enamel Sign 'Stephens Inks'
This small piece of enamel advertising sign saying ‘Stephens inks' was an household name in Britain’s offices, schools and institutions.
Likely Manufactured in the 1920s or early 1930s, in a time when every school desk had an ink-well and a fountain pen was the tool of choice.
Its bold script and striking blue-splash graphic announce confidence in an age of pen and ink dominance.
Granted, what we have here is a fragment but imagine the full piece. A full sign from a brand of this heritage would be an exceptional find. Rare, desirable, and steeped in writing-culture history.
