This embossed aqua-green glass bottle was produced for the Northampton Brewery Company Limited, one of the major breweries of Victorian England. The brewery operated from the Phoenix Brewery on Bridge Street in Northampton and the company was officially incorporated in 1887, although its roots go back earlier.

The most distinctive feature of this bottle is the six-pointed star containing the initials 'NBC'. This was the brewery's registered trademark. Historical trademark records show that the NBC monogram within a star was registered in 1876, and the company stated it had been in use since at least 1869.

The heavy construction, aqua-colored glass, and blob-top finish suggest this bottle was made during the late Victorian or early Edwardian period, most likely between 1885 and 1905. It would originally have contained beer or ale produced at Northampton Brewery and sold throughout Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties.

More than a century after it was made, this bottle survives as a tangible link to Northampton's industrial heritage, the Victorian brewing trade and an era when every bottle was designed to be returned, reused, and proudly marked with the name of its owner.
